- Paying attention to visual strategies can teach us many things about our culture. For instance, when a news story gets incredibly popular because it has a video to go with it, like YouTube, it can have positive and negative affects. A positive affect is how the audience can read about an occurrence and then watch it for themselves to make their own opinions about it. A negative affect this has for the culture though is sometimes a newsworthy story doesn’t get read because it has no video to accompany it. With this idea of video, pictures must be even more satisfying than before to stand out to their audience and catch their attention, and paying attention to this means understanding why and how they try to make a picture and article eye catching.
- When walking by a news stand, if you see a big picture of a average person doing an average routine you’ve never seen before or know anything about chances are you won’t buy that newspaper. But if you walk by and see a celebrity in hand cuffs thrown against a police car, you will be at least more tempted to pick that newspaper up and read about that picture, if not buy the newspaper just because of the picture. Pictures can almost more important and catching than headlines, like in this case.
- I chose the design that had grass as the top picture. I really only chose it because everyone else seemed to be picking the same cool designs. So having this design made the page more unique. I also liked the design because it gave an appearance that the words below that make up the blog are the roots of the blog, and that’s why the title of the blog is at the top with the grown grass. One thing that is inefficient which I attempted to change but is not possible was change the titles font. This is because the font is too small and it’s a hard to read font. I think if it were changed it would be more sufficient. Also, if I changed my design to a different one I would just end up having a design like someone else in the class, and that’s not me. I am unique and so my visual strategy was to have a unique background.

1. Kiaros is the most opportunistic time and setting to take action or make an argument.
2. When making an argument Kairos is important because it not only makes your argument relevant but it can also strengthen it.
3. Page 43 Questions: “Evolution and Intelligent Design in Schools”
1. The urgency of this is issue has been made relevant because of its recent controversy with the media and public.
2. People of faith tend to side with either the teaching of both evolution and intelligent design or they favor the removal of evolution being taught in schools. However, those of science are for the teaching of evolution and against the teaching of intelligent design.
3. An inappropriate argument would be to denounce a person’s faith or belief to get your point across. It however, would not be out of line to state that evolution is based of hard evidence and fact while intelligent design is simply based off of faith.
4. Atheism versus theism, or faith and science are strongly wrapped around in discussion with this argument because these are closely related to the debate of teaching evolution and intelligent design in school.
5. Government is a major power dynamic to this debate. State and federal government mostly have the power with this issue. The kids, who are being taught, unless they are 18, do not have any say or power with this issue.
6. Churches are a good venue for which the people of faith get their point across and then the churches may go to political debates. A good venue for this issue would be a state court or federal (Supreme Court) to debate this issue, which has been done before. The scientific side has a better position because they do have evidence to back their arguments up and the other side only has their faith.
7. The opposing half does have a louder voice simply because they have the churches to speak out for them while those of science have no church to represent them. Time wise though, evolution is louder because in this day in age more people are acceptant of the theory and more reluctant to the idea of teaching intelligent design in school.

This is the first post on my weblog for my Digital Media. My Asian sidekick sits two seats over and silly little Lauren sits next to me. They’re both crazy.
